Supportive Housing Systems
SHS is an organization dedicated to providing safe, affordable, alcohol & drug free transitional housing to recovering adults.
All SHS recovery homes are attractively furnished, immaculately maintained, and are located in stable, residential neighborhoods. Conveniently located on bus lines, they offer housing, support meetings and other structured recovery activities in a serene, safe, and supportive environment deigned to preserve and promote the dignity of the persons served.
Accommodations
Each resident is provided an attractively furnished semi-private room with linens. Utilities, telephone, cable TV, laundry facilities, and a fully equipped kitchen are all provided at no additional charge.
Residents are responsible for providing their own food, clothes, personal hygiene items, alarm clock, etc. Staff will assist those in need in obtaining food stamps and in accessing food banks and other programs for which they may qualify due to low income.
Program Requirements
Once admitted, the resident is expected to secure and maintain employment, attend daily support meetings, obtain a sponsor, attend a weekly group session and community meeting, and adhere to all requirements of their aftercare or outpatient treatment plan, if applicable. Participation in program activities is based on individual need and the frequency of required attendance for some activities may decline as the resident progresses in the recovery process. |
Admission Criteria
Supportive Housing Systems' services are open to adults (18 years & over) who have a minimum detox period of three days. For those with short term recovery, a recent inpatient treatment episode or current participation in outpatient treatment is desirable, but not a prerequisite for admission. Whether in recovery for a short period of time, or for those with long-term sobriety, SHS recovery homes provide a supportive environment that facilitates and enhances the recovery process.
